The role of the CIOs is to encourage :

• welcoming all members of the public, with priority given to young people at school and their families
• providing information on education, vocational training, qualifications and professions
• individual advice
• observing and analysing local changes in the education system and developments in the labour market, and producing summary documents for use by educational teams or students
• encouraging discussion and debate between partners in the education system, parents, young people, local decision-makers and business leaders
